Material issues and policies related to the SDGs

Identifying material (priority) issues

We have identified material issues in consideration of their relevance to our business and their influence on and interest to our stakeholders.

In identifying material issues, we considered our corporate philosophy for logistics operations around the globe (“Moving the world forward as the leading provider of innovative logistics and material handling solutions”) and our purpose (to “positively impact the lives of people around the world by demonstrating a pioneering spirit and using emerging technologies to deliver safe, automated and decarbonized logistics solutions”) focused on the market environment surrounding logistics.

Moreover, as a corporate group that helps to resolve societal issues through our business, we have also determined that areas that form the basis for our continued existence—corporate governance, compliance, and risk management—are also priority issues for us. Through business activities that align with material issues, we aim to build and maintain positive relations with various stakeholders and to make a continued contribution to society.

For each material issue, we have set key performance indicators (KPIs) by which we can evaluate and publicize our performance in the Integrated Reports at the end of each fiscal year. However, we will also introduce initiatives during the period that are difficult to evaluate with KPIs, such as R&D and product-related initiatives.

Policies related to the SDGs

As well as identifying material issues, we work to clarify our policies related to the SDGs. In this environment where interest in sustainability, including climate change, is growing, we will promote further efforts aimed at sustainable growth. To do so, we formulate policies related to the SDGs based on our corporate philosophy, management policies, and other factors.

Policies related to the SDGs
